Dr.-Ing. Pablo Guerrero

I am a software engineer at the SAP Innovation Center. In 2014 I received a doctoral degree from the Computer Science department of the TU Darmstadt. There I worked on ubiquitous computing and sensor networks as member of the Databases and Distributed Systems group, led by Prof. Alejandro Buchmann.

Prior to that I received a degree in System's Engineering (with a Major in Computer Science) from the Faculty of Sciences, UNICEN, Tandil, Argentina.

The focus of my doctoral thesis was at the intersection of Event-based Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks, among other pervasive technologies (read about ukuFlow below).

Past Research Projects

ukuFlow My dissertation centered on a distributed workflow execution environment based on events and actions for wireless sensor and actuator networks. This was realized with ukuFlow, a middleware platform for sensornets. TUDuNet We constructed a federation of sensor network testbeds at campus-scale, called TUDμNet. This facilitated the development of sensor network software by means of centralized reprogramming and data logging. ukuFlow Between July 2005 and March 2006, I participated in an industry cooperation project between the DVS group and SAP Labs Palo Alto to enhance the performance of the AutoID Infrastructure. ukuFlow During the time between November 2004 and March 2005, I joined SAP Labs Palo Alto as graduate student in the Smart Items Research Program, under the supervision of Dr. Christof Bornhövd. The main topic was focused on the performance characteristics of SAP's AutoID Infrastructure Repository. ukuFlow In 2003, I completed a research internship at the Databases and Distributed Systems group, TU Darmstadt, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Alejandro Buchmann, and Dr. Mariano Cilia. The work focused on enhancing publish/subscribe systems to support mobility.

Professional Activities

I have participated in a number of workshops, conferences and scientific meetings in general to enhance my professional skills, present my current work or simply share our experience with others. A (now outdated) list can be found here.

  • In 2011 I was member of the ICDE 2012 Demo Program Committee.
  • In 2010 I co-edited the Festschrift in honor of Prof. Alejandro Buchmann.
  • In 2008 I served as Volunteer Coordinator for the 24th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE'08).
  • In 2007 I volunteered for the European Conference on Ambient Intelligence (Ami-07).

Teaching

I participated in a number of teaching activites; a full list can be seen here.
