Description

The ReFFlow Project deals with development and execution of WS-based compositions, also called WS-flows. Our goal is to enable the creation and execution of WS-flows exhibiting dynamic features during run time and able to flex as reaction to changes in the business requirements.

To achieve this goal we divide our project in four parts:

  1. Define a precise methodology for development and execution of WS-flows as a framework for the project.
The methodology is based on a refined process definition life cycle. Each life cycle phase accommodates a particular approach to addressing specific aspect of WS-flow development and execution.
It is important to note that the terms WS-flow, WS-based process and WS composition are used interchangeably and are meant to denote the definition (description, code) of a WS-flow and not the process of composing WSs in complex ones.

  2. Define a unified WS-flow meta-model. The model contains extension constructs that accommodate run-time adaptability of WS-flows in a generic way, independent of the implementation paradigm used for the development of the execution environment.

  3. Implement an execution engine to support the extended model.

  4. Create tools for automating the production of WS-flow definitions with built-in adaptability features.
